Japchae is one of the famous Korean dishes. Japchae is a stir-fried yam noodles with vegetables. If you like you could add some shredded beef. Japchae are as both side dish and main course. Yam noodles look similar to vermicelli but just a little thicker. You can buy yam noodles at your local Asian or Korean grocery stores.
Ingredients:
8 oz. Dangmyoen (yam noodles)
1/2 cup thinly slice Shitake Mushrooms
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1/2 chopped finely green bell pepper
1/2 sliced onions oil
1 1/2 tsp vegetable
2 1/2 tsp soy sauce
2 1/2 chopped sesame leaves(optional)
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp sesame oil
salt and pepper to taste
Instruction:
1. Soak Dangmyeon for 1 hour or until the noodles get soften.
2. Add vegetable oil,garlic and all vegetable ingredients into the wok or pan. Stir fried all the vegetable and mushrooms.
3. Add Dangmyoen in to the wok/pan,stir fry quickly.
4. Add soy sauce,sesame oil,sesame leaves,sugar and salt and pepper to taste. Mix/stir them well.
5. Put in a dish and serve. It served as both side dish and main dish. If you like you can put Japchae on the top of rice to make Japchae rice.
